How It Began

Growing up in a household where my mother was a sewing teacher, I was always encouraged to learn how to sew. Like many young people learning a new skill, I found it uninteresting at first and did my best to avoid it whenever I could.

By the time I finally developed an interest in sewing, many local haberdasheries had closed down, and even familiar high street stores like Woolworths had disappeared. It became increasingly difficult to find quality sewing supplies locally.

That experience inspired the idea behind Bits and Bobbins — an online haberdashery combined with a mobile service for local customers. The goal was simple: to make quality sewing and crafting supplies more accessible and convenient.

I have never looked back. And yes — my mother eventually got her way and taught me how to stitch, something I am incredibly grateful for today.
